A letter has been sent by UGAG to Diaspora Office in Ghana, Parliament and the Embassy of Ghana in Berlin to petition them so that “Ghanaian Germans” could be exempted from visa requirement, when travelling to Ghana. UGAG received response from Diaspora Office in Ghana that they have talked to Foreign Affairs Ministry and the ministry assured Diaspora that it will work to modify this “anomaly”. The anomaly is that “once a Ghanaian, remains a Ghanaian”,
In order to accelerate this petition, UGAG will embark on collection of signatures from all Local Unions to support our petition which has already been sent to the authorities in Ghana The signatures to be collected now are for the purpose to abolish denunciation of the Ghanaian Citizenship, when they decide to take the German citizenship.
